The role of antimicrobial therapy in the treatment of patients with liver abscess
Abstract
Antibacterial therapy plays a leading role in the tactics of treatment and clinical course of liver abscess. The peculiarities of etiopathogenesis and clinical picture of the disease demand a differential approach to the use of antibiotic therapy with further observation of clinical dynamics and its effectiveness. In a complex treatment of liver abscesses antibiotic therapy was conducted empirically taking into account the most probable etiology of infectious process. Antibiotic therapy was conducted before the operation to reduce contamination of operating wound by the infectious agent, and henceforth, according to the results of bacterial seeding from the nursery of liver abscess and microbial sensitivity test. Nowadays, the choice of antibiotic therapy has a variety of mandatory conditions, which are caused by the etiology and clinical picture during the course of liver abscess.
