Sexual dimorphism of vasculartone regulation in rats

Abstract

The article shows that in female rats the sensitivity of the aorta to vasodilatation of hydrogen sulfide is significantly higher than in males, which is associated with higher levels in female of hydrogen sulfide in aorta, lower level of serum sVCAM-1 and lower activity of processes of lipid and protein peroxidation. The index of aorta sensitivity to the relaxing action of H2S significantly and inversely correlates with the content in serum of sVCAM-1, malonyl dialdehyde and protein carbonyl groups, while the strength of these connections is significantly higher in females than in males.
